Salary: $85,000 – $120,000 annually (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Senior Bookkeeper for our client, a well-established organization in Lacombe. The successful candidate will oversee all financial operations, including payroll, reporting, compliance, and full-cycle accounting. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional looking for a stable and rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and coordinate year-end working papers and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Payroll Administration
- Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 45 employees.
- Maintain payroll records, statutory deductions, ROEs, and T4s.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta and federal payroll legislation.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Oversee AP and AR functions, including vendor management, payment schedules, invoicing, and collections.
- Reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy of billing and expenses.
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and file monthly GST submissions and other government remittances.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Operational Support
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
- Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Assist operational teams with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting.
Qualifications
- CPA designation (or near completion) an asset.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll, AP/AR, and financial reporting.
- Expert-level QuickBooks Desktop experience is mandatory.
- Strong preference for experience in oil & gas service sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, payroll standards, and GST compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong technical accounting abilities.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
