A leading air compressor service provider in Surrey, BC, is seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician to ensure reliable operation of equipment. The Field Service Technician provides responsive service ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of industrial air compressors while building strong relationships with our customers located in the BC Lower Mainland region.
This is an opportunity for candidates with previous experience in a Service Technician role or similar. Previous compressed air knowledge is an asset; training will be provided to become a factory certified Ingersoll Rand Technician. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, a positive team-focused attitude, exceptional customer service and communication skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering high-quality, detailed work.

Responsibilities include equipment installations and start-ups, preventive maintenance, diagnostic inspections and repair of compressed air equipment to ensure operating and quality standards are met. Other duties include creating a friendly working environment, effective communication with customers and coworkers, maintaining rapport with customers by addressing complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and system improvements, and assisting with parts and services to secure customer approval.
Work with internal team to obtain required parts and materials; adhere to safety standards in changing environments; daily travel to customer sites in the BC Lower Mainland with occasional travel to surrounding areas; rotation-based on-call service with occasional after-hours call-outs.
Other requirements include comprehension of electrical wiring schematics and diagrams, accurate documentation of service and installation activities, promoting company products and services, and communicating their value to customers.
High school diploma; post-secondary and/or related technical training and experience preferred. Previous industrial air compressor service experience is an asset but training will be provided. Applicants with mechanical, millwright, HVAC, electrical/electronics, and compressed natural gas experience will receive special consideration. Basic knowledge of AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity/controls, refrigeration systems and/or refrigerant certification is preferred. Candidates with related knowledge or skills but without a formal program may be considered.
Other attributes include high integrity, motivation to stay updated with compressed air concepts, use of precision measuring tools for diagnostics, comprehension of operation and parts manuals, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and devices. Candidates must have their own standard tools; the company will supply other specialty/diagnostic tools.
This position involves working in diverse conditions, including mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noise, hot/cold weather, electrical risk, and ladders/aerial platforms. It is a highly physical role requiring lifting and manipulation of tools and equipment; adherence to Workplace Health and Safety standards is required.
No criminal record, valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record, and a driver’s abstract are required. Training includes job shadowing, hands-on field work, online training, and formal classroom training; travel to Ingersoll Rand’s corporate training facility in the USA may be required.
