A leading agricultural company in Alberta seeks a Field Scout technician to monitor crop growth, assist in field activities such as planting and harvesting, and report observations to management. Daily Roles
Duties

The Field Scout technicians are responsible for monitoring and ensuring healthy crop growth through scouting, distribution, planting assistance and harvest field assistance. Daily duties include:

  • Monitor growth and development of sweet corn and green pea fields from planting to harvest
  • Record scouting observations in our AgroOne data base and report findings to Ag Manager an Crop Supervisor regularly
  • Monitor and report European Corn Borer populations by setting up traps in sweet corn fields
  • Management of ECB traps to help determine timely pesticide applications and reporting data to growers
  • Operate a handheld GPS device to track planted and harvested acres
  • Operate a quad to track planted acres, collect ECB traps and collect pre-test samples
  • Records organized data on company Google Drove including Google Sheets and Docs
  • Assists in the distribution of seed to growers
  • Gathers pre test samples to determine when the crop is ready for harvest and reports findings to management team
  • Maintains communication with management team, growers and harvesting crews
Your Profile
  • Diploma or an Interest in Agricultural Studies
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Able to stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Lift 60lb bags
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and clean drivers abstract
  • First Aid, ATV and FL training considered an asset.
  • Reliable vehicle and able to commute to the Taber area everyday
