A community support organization in Edmonton is seeking a Family Connector to provide essential support services for vulnerable families, primarily Indigenous. The role involves building relationships, coordinating resources, and ensuring the wellbeing of children and parents amidst their challenges. The Family Centre is looking for (5) family support workers who excel at building relationships with families, community resources, and various supportive parties. Ideal candidates possess strong problem‑solving, organizational, and collaboration skills. As a Family Connector (FC), you will provide in‑home and community‑based support to vulnerable children and families who have Children and Family Services involvement. Your caseload will comprise primarily of Indigenous families and individuals who have experienced trauma and multigenerational abuse and neglect. Operating on a flexible work schedule which includes regular evenings and weekends, you will build therapeutic relationships with parents through the use of basic counselling skills and a trauma informed care approach; thereby increasing capacity and executive functioning. You will work as a member of a collaborative team and are ultimately responsible for the coordination, initiation and mobilization of internal and external resources required to meet the service plan objective as determined with Children and Family Services and the families we work with.
Training – comprehensive onboarding/orientation process which includes service specific training, and agency wide core training.
Feedback – a strong supervision model that provides regular formal and informal opportunities for feedback.
Performance coaching – formal and informal coaching regarding the development of personal and professional growth and development.
