Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full‑time (1.0 FTE) Faculty, Piping. If you want to share your expertise, knowledge, enjoy teamwork, have an innovative approach, and a proven track record in industry, we would like to hear from you.

Please note: This opportunity does have the potential of leading to full‑time employment once the successful candidate has successfully completed a probationary period. Initial contract is for 3 months.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Classroom instruction to apprentice, entry‑level or Industry Services students.
  • Shop and laboratory instruction and supervision.
  • Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking, and student evaluation.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training.
  • Other duties directly related to the instruction of trades and vocational programs.
  • Input into development of modifications to workshop and instructional areas.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BC Trades Certificate of Qualification/Red Seal endorsement in the following:
    • Plumber
    • Gasfitter “Class B”
  • Additional qualifications enhancing your application but not required:
    • Gasfitter “Class A”
    • Steamfitter/Pipefitter
    • Sprinkler‑fitter
  • Five years’ current work experience as a journeyperson in the Plumbing trade.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a strong desire to teach.
  • Effective command of the English language – both written and oral.
  • Experience working with apprentices in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop a collegial environment.

These are the minimum required qualifications. This position is a dayshift position as defined in Article 14.1 of the Collective Agreement.

Salary Range

$78,133 – $115,805 per annum.
