JOB DESCRIPTION

Help us shape the future of our shipbuilding infrastructure. Irving Shipbuilding is entering an exciting period of major infrastructure renewal and transformation - and we're looking for a Facilities Capital Planner who wants to play a central role in these initiatives. In this role, you will help design the next generation of shipyard facilities, guide long‑term capital planning, and directly influence programs that enable our production teams to deliver Canada’s ships safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Capital, you’ll lead the development and continuous refinement of our 5‑year sustaining capital program. You’ll be hands‑on in planning, scoping, and shaping high‑impact infrastructure projects, while partnering with stakeholders across the business to make sure our facilities evolve to meet strategic priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facility Master Planning
  • Drive long‑term infrastructure planning by developing and integrating a 5‑year capital program with our annual budgeting cycles.
  • Support major upcoming infrastructure initiatives, contributing to project planning, business case development, and program management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Production, HSE, Security, Maintenance, and other business units to understand operational needs and translate them into actionable facility plans.
  • Define project scope, cost, schedule, and conceptual layouts for expansion, modernization, and reinvestment projects.
  • Prepare conceptual drawings and maintain accurate record documentation, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and operational requirements.
  • Manage relationships with engineering consultants and trade contractors, ensuring project expectations, deliverables, and timelines are met.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Engineering Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in facilities planning, capital project delivery, or a related field.
  • PMP certification (an asset).
  • Strong project management skills, business acumen, and the ability to balance strategic planning with practical execution.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for building strong relationships across diverse teams.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence.
