A community-focused service agency in Northwestern Ontario is seeking an Executive Director. This leadership role involves overseeing the agency's operations, ensuring adherence to financial and organizational regulations while serving the needs of First Nations communities. Serving as Chief Executive of Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services (AAFS) in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall success of AAFS. Together, the Executive Director and the Board of Directors will strive to accomplish AAFS’ mission, vision and mandates while ensuring AAFS’ relevance and accessibility to the First Nations while being accountable to its member communities, their children and families. The Executive Director is responsible for management of day-to-day operations, provides leadership in identifying organizational priorities and objectives, ensures oversight of the devolved agencies under AAFS, leads and mentors senior staff and ensures both financial and organizational viability.
The Executive Director has the authority to carry out these responsibilities in accordance with the strategic direction and policies established by the Board of Directors, provincial and federal legislative requirements, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) standards and their respective funding models.
The Executive Director is responsible to ensure that the agency’s decision making, and service delivery are congruent to Abinoojii Inakonigewin, promote Bill C-92 and AAFS’ devolution model and is respectful of and in accordance with the culture, heritage and demographics of the children, families and communities that AAFS serves.
The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and works under the guidance of our Elders.
Work normal business hours but may be required to do some work in the evenings or outside normal working hours. Able to work on a computer for long periods of time. Required to spend long hours concentrating which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy; and required to meet a number of deadlines which may cause stress. Travel to semi-remote Anishinaabe communities on rough and winding class “C” roadways.
$159,405.39-$195,500
AAFS offers 5 weeks paid vacation, Extended Health, Dental, Group Life, AD&D, & Disability benefits after one month of employment and participation in our Pension program.
