Qualifications

  • Proven ability to operate various excavators safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if required.
  • Physical capability to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

  • Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to bale, load, and transport waste or other materials.
  • Communicate effectively via two-way radio with co-workers in the field and office regarding work activities and daily priorities.

Overview

GFL Environmental is looking for the Excavator Operator to join our team in Edmonton, AB. The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate various excavators and other necessary machinery to bale, load, and move waste material efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to bale, load, and transport waste or other materials.
  • Steer, guide, and/or drive assigned equipment using controls such as steering wheels, shifters, levers, buttons, and pedals.
  • Communicate effectively via two-way radio with co-workers in the field and office regarding work activities and daily priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Proven ability to operate various excavators safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if required.
  • Proven ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple variables in a standardized setting.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment gauges and perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Physical capability to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Class 3 License with Air Brakes Endorsement is an asset.
