Overview

Under the direction of the Continuing Education Officer, provides instruction to Adult learners.

Role and Responsibilities

TESL Ontario Certification. Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures, Adult Education including English as a Second Language (ESL), education environment and the Canadian Language Benchmarks, and Board procedures and operations; organization and time management skills required to prioritize work and juggle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities with short timelines; interpersonal, and communication skills required to exchange and clarify information; oral communication and listening skills required for understanding and communicating effectively with diverse communities; understand and respond to inquiries using tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with colleagues and students; presentation skills delivering instruction; ability to develop a classroom atmosphere of respect, trust and cooperation; maintenance of all relevant certifications. This knowledge would normally be obtained through completion of TESL Ontario Certification from a recognized college or university; or Ontario Teaching Certification and Ministry of Education recognized ESL qualifications (CTESL; ESL Part(s) I and II); or Ontario Teaching Certification and ESL instructional experience.

Pay Expectations

$37.04 to $46.84 per hour
