Overview

Extremely functional 28 year old Deafblind female looking for a support worker/intervenor in her apartment in Jocko Point.

Pay: $25/hour; 12-15 hours per week; self-employed

Hours

Hours of Work (flexible)

Preferred Monday to Thursday 9am–3pm, every other Friday 9am–3pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the individual in their home and community environments.
  • Using communication techniques to relay information.
  • Empowering the individual supported to participate and be successful in all aspects of daily living including personal hygiene, meal preparation, house cleaning, volunteerism, among others.
  • Assisting with developing and supporting individual goals and objectives.
  • Assisting with program development.
  • Ensuring documentation and records are complete.
Qualifications
  • Completion or pursuing a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program, or: Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Services Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA), Personal Support Worker (PSW), Behavioural Science, or a related human services field an asset
  • Experience supporting persons with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviours.
  • Experience supporting persons with mental health conditions is an asset
  • Communication in American Sign Language (ASL) or willing to learn
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license Class G and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent attendance record and reliability.
