Your Opportunity

Dillon’s Environmental Planning group is looking to fill an existing vacancy for an eager new graduate who will contribute to Dillon’s reputation as innovators in the EA space. The successful candidate will have opportunities to support a variety of complex projects delivering EAs, environmental permitting/approvals, and environmental compliance monitoring. We are seeking an individual to support our team in delivering EAs for linear infrastructure such as pipelines, transmission lines, roads, highways, and transit. The ideal candidate will have some exposure to provincial EA legislation under Ontario’s EA Act such as Class EA processes (e.g., Municipal Class EA, Ministry of Transportation [MTO], Hydro One, Metrolinx/TPAP), and knowledge of federal EA legislation (e.g., Impact Assessment Act, Canada Energy Regulator Act, etc.).

We are seeking candidates for the position of Environmental Planner in our North York, Toronto, Kitchener or London offices. You will be a member of Dillon’s national Environmental Planning group and will work closely with our in-house teams of engagement specialists, biologists, environmental scientists, land use and policy planners, and the full range of engineering disciplines located in offices across Canada.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

As a key team member, you will have the opportunity to:

Project Delivery
  • Support projects for public and private sector clients related to EA, environmental permitting and approvals, and environmental compliance monitoring, with a focus on linear infrastructure EAs (Individual/Comprehensive EAs, Municipal Class EA, MTO, Hydro One, Metrolinx/TRPAP)
  • Support federal EAs and work with Indigenous communities. Work with multi-disciplinary teams on exciting and challenging projects, with a focus on removing barriers and improving access on roads, highways, transit, and active transportation facilities
  • Support innovative EA consultation processes.
Learning & Development
  • Commit to self‑development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Be coached and mentored by some of Canada’s most well‑respected leaders in Individual/Comprehensive EAs, MTO Class EAs, and Municipal Class EAs
Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A university degree or post‑undergraduate college diploma in planning, environmental studies, biology or a related field
  • 5+ years’ EA experience, preferably in the consulting industry, with an emphasis on linear infrastructure (pipelines, electric transmission lines, roads, highways, transit)
  • Strong communication, report writing, organization, interpersonal skills
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License
  • Eligibility or full membership or candidate membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute is considered an asset
Experience

What you will need to suceed:

  • A university degree or post‑undergraduate college diploma in planning, environmental studies, biology or a related field
  • EA experience, preferably in the consulting industry is considered an asset

Ideally, your experience can demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements

Compensation

$60,300 - $95,700

Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
