Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Environmental team in Ottawa.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Conducting building investigations for asbestos, designated substances, mold and other hazardous materials
- Providing engineering/technical support for projects involving the abatement of the aforementioned materials
- Collecting air and bulk samples during investigations and abatement of the aforementioned materials
- Analyzing phase contrast microscopy (PCM) air samples for asbestos using NIOSH 7400 method
- Supporting other environmental projects by conducting various field investigations (test pits, borehole drilling, soil, groundwater, indoor air sampling, Phase I ESA site visits, remediation oversight)
- Interpreting laboratory analytical results
- Preparing written reports pertaining to site investigations and abatement
What your experience looks like
- One or more of the following: College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety; Environmental/Geological/Civil Technician or Technology Diploma; Undergraduate Degree in Natural Sciences (Earth Science, Environmental Science, or Engineering)
- 1 to 2 years of related field experience for hazardous materials and the opportunity to work on environmental projects (drilling, sampling, remediation oversight, hazardous materials)
- Strong writing skills including the ability to write technical reports
- Experience working in a client services environment with developed client service skills
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups as well as independently
- Highly motivated and able to work well within a team environment
- Strong organizational skills
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.
