Overview
The Environmental Compliance Coordinator (ECC) is responsible for providing both technical and administrative support in the preparation and submission of regulatory licenses, permits, and instruments of approval essential to the company’s core operations. The ECC ensures that all company activities strictly adhere to the conditions stipulated by regulatory agencies in the issued approvals. Additionally, the ECC is tasked with the accurate and timely monitoring and reporting of all required information to the relevant regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance and facilitating smooth regulatory processes.
This is a 6 month contract role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA) and Permit to Take Water (PTTW).
- Conduct environmental site inspections at RWT Quarries, Asphalt Plants, Concrete Plants, and other sites and/or buildings owned by Tomlinson.
- Conduct environmental site inspections at Tomlinson Environmental Services (TES) Waste Transfer Station, Materials Recovery Facility and Construction and Demolition Facility.
- Recommend and implement required remedial actions as necessary.
- Investigate complaints and advise Manager of findings.
- Collaborate closely with project teams and consultants to obtain required ECA & PTTW in support of the company’s operations.
- Liaise and work effectively with the Ministry of Environment.
- Liaise and work effectively with the Ministry of Natural Resources.
- Engage and liaise with Public Associations and committees.
- Conduct environmental monitoring, including groundwater and surface water sampling and analyze test results.
- Complete the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) for all the Tomlinson Group of companies annually.
- Input and Submit water taking records (WTR) online yearly.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of annual reports required for ECA’s and PTTW’s.
- Prepare, review, and submit required annual reports for ECA for TES
Working Conditions
- Half time in the office and half in the field.
- Travel – day trips normally, overnight occasionally; valid G licence is required
Education and Experience
- College diploma or University degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related industry
- Knowledge of groundwater and surface water sampling procedures and monitoring
- GIS training considered an asset
- 2-4+ years of industry experience
