Job Description

The Facilities function in Ultra is responsible for managing the day to day provision of Facilities Support services across all businesses, which may include buildings and grounds maintenance, security and health and safety. It may also include the coordination of Business Continuity activities across Ultra.

Job Duties
  • Assembles, installs, maintains, repairs and overhauls all types of equipment, machinery and systems used in production processes
  • Develops, implements and follows preventive maintenance schedules and procedures as required. Monitors function of machinery, equipment and electro-mechanical devices while in use and highlights potential problems.
  • Carries out maintenance and preventative maintenance in accordance with procedures and diagnoses and repairs faults, suggesting improvements to existing equipment and maintenance procedures and practices
  • Maintains and programs Allen-Bradley PLCs, and PLC software controlled equipment, machinery, variable speed drives and electro-mechanical devices
  • Tests electrical equipment for proper function, continuity and isolation from ground and corrects faults as necessary, including programming faults in production PLC’s and related systems
  • Runs cabling for production equipment and production test equipment on production floor
  • Alerts supervision regarding repairs and maintenance required on operating equipment/machinery/electro-mechanical devices to ensure safe working conditions
  • Works as directed with team members and/or with other departments to ensure efficient operation of production equipment, machinery and/or electro-mechanical devices
  • Maintains records, including software and programs for production equipment, machinery and mechanical devices.
  • Repairs, reworks, and calibrates pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances
  • Operate, test, and maintain semi-automated, servo-mechanical, or electromechanical equipment
  • Follows Layouts, and installs traditional electrical circuitry for offices, lighting, pumps, motors, etc.
  • Works with Engineering in the programming of existing and developmental PLC and operating system based production equipment, machinery and electro-mechanical devices
  • Uses knowledge and experience to propose design changes and/or modifications to machines and equipment to improve performance and reliability
  • Responds to occasional emergency call-ins
  • Change filters on large filtration systems and any process equipment needed.
Required Skills
  • Completed Grade 12, from a recognized community college with a diploma in Electromechanical technician or trade certification (Journeyperson Millwright)
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and reading blueprints
  • The successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian NATO government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.
