Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to develop and design electrical systems for commercial, educational, and institutional / municipal buildings, with emphasis on renewal / replacement of equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical design principles, applicable electrical codes, industry standards, CAD tools, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems, components, and wiring diagrams for new and existing buildings.
  • Create and review technical drawings and schematics using CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Prepare design documentation, including technical specifications, wiring diagrams, power, and lighting layouts.
  • Participate in design reviews, contract administration, site inspections, and commissioning, providing technical input as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, CAD software, and simulation tools.
  • Solid understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with lighting retrofits, lighting controls, and lighting distribution calculations.
  • Experience with power upgrades and power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems, PA systems, data and communications, and emergency power systems.
  • Familiarity with contract administration activities and protocols.
