The Organization

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is excited to announce the addition of a group of highly experienced aerospace professionals to our organization! Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October 2023, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.

Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands‑on professional for the role of Electrical and Avionics Designer / Liaison based in Calgary, Alberta. This position is responsible for providing technical support for the installation of avionics systems on aircraft as part of new MC2/ADS programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design avionics and electrical system modifications, including integrating new equipment using AutoCad.
  • Create block diagrams, detailed wiring diagrams, wire routing drawings of the new systems.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable specification requirements, and appropriate industry regulations including CAR, FAR or CS.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electrical design practices and maintain a strong understanding of typical aircraft systems architecture.
  • Balance and optimise competing design criteria to achieve efficient and effective solutions.
  • Review and refine existing design, utilising available data to enhance or optimise performance.
  • Conduct aircraft surveys to determine the best design solution for modifications.
  • Review internal drawings for technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with production technicians and cross‑functional technical teams.
  • Communicate design decision clearly and concisely.
  • Seek guidance from senior engineering team members when needed to ensure robust technical solutions.
  • Work effectively within the Design Team while contributing to the broader Engineering Department.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of Aeronautical/Aerospace Avionics/Electrical Design experience; experience with aftermarket aircraft modifications is considered an asset.
  • Proven aircraft electrical design experience with solid CAD skills (Autodesk AutoCad).
  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong teamwork abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, responsible, and capable of making sound technical judgement.
