Job description

The Town of Lincoln is hiring an Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator. The Town of Lincoln, located in the beautiful Niagara Region, offers a unique environment that encompasses Lake Ontario, the Bruce Trail and Niagara Escarpment and is situated between Hamilton and St. Catharines. Reporting to the Director, Economic Development, Communications, Culture & Tourism the Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator supports the Town of Lincoln’s efforts to attract investment, enhance tourism experiences, and promote sustainable economic growth. The coordinator plays a key role in implementing the Town’s Economic Development Strategy and Tourism Action Plan, administering the Town’s Short-Term Accommodation (STA) Licensing program and Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) program, coordinating the Town’s event permitting process, and managing the Niagara Benchlands brand and social media channels.

The successful candidate must possess the following:
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Economic Development, Business, Marketing, Tourism, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing and promotion for a tourism attraction or cultural facility. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience writing reports and developing promotional materials, web content, and social media marketing.
  • Experience within the field of rural tourism.
  • Experience in customer service and/or working with stakeholders.
  • Experience with project management and managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of economic development and tourism principles and practices; experience dealing with rural economic development would be ideal.
  • Experience in dealing with private businesses and respective community partner organizations; demonstrated knowledge of economic development and/or tourism contacts and programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with private businesses and landowners to provide concierge‑style customer service solutions.
  • Ability to influence and work within a team environment, ensuring team members are kept current.
  • Ability to create partnerships and strategic alliances with businesses, not‑for‑profit, community organizations, and different levels of government.
  • Good problem‑solving and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of the municipal decision‑making process.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Municipal Act, MAT regulations, and tourism sector funding programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and social media management platforms (Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Canva, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

The Town of Lincoln offers an attractive, competitive salary, benefits and pension package, a progressive hybrid work environment, and career advancement opportunities. The salary for this position (based on a 35‑hour work week, with some evening work as required) is $77,481.04 – $87,156.16.
