The Opportunity We are seeking a skilled and passionate Bricklaying Apprenticeship Instructor to join our School of Construction. In this role, you will teach courses in lab, theory, blueprint reading, and math for the Bricklayer Apprenticeship Program. You will utilize your expertise to develop course outlines, curriculum, and additional study materials. As an Instructor, you will evaluate student progress, provide ongoing support and guidance, and maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors. Through collaborative teamwork, you will contribute to the success of our students and make a lasting impact.
    The Role
    • Deliver high-quality instruction for the Bricklayer Apprenticeship Program to a diverse learner community
    • Develop course outlines, profiles, and curriculum materials, keeping them up-to-date and aligned with industry requirements
    • Participate in curriculum and program reviews, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
    • Prepare additional study materials and lab resources to enhance the learning experience
    • Evaluate student progress and achievement, providing constructive feedback and guidance
    • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors, staying abreast of emerging trends and best practices
    • Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and innovative learning environment
    • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
    Qualifications & Experience
    • Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate as a Bricklayer
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Journeyperson in various installation environments (desired)
    • Experience in a faculty role at a post-secondary educational institute (asset)
    • Strong coaching and support skills for diverse students
    • Self-directed with excellent time management and prioritization abilities
    • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace/Desire2Learn) (asset)
    • Commitment to ethical behavior
