Responsibilities:

As a Driller at Big Country Drilling, your primary responsibility will be to operate drilling machinery and equipment while overseeing drilling operations. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Operating drilling equipment, such as rotary drills, mud pumps, and hoisting equipment, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Monitoring drilling progress and adjusting as necessary to ensure efficient and productive operations.
  • Conducting and documenting of pre-drilling checks and inspections to ensure equipment is in optimal condition, reporting any malfunctions or issues to the supervisor.
  • Collaborating with the drilling team to ensure adherence to drilling plans, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
  • Main role in the setup and dismantling of drilling rigs and associated equipment.
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks on drilling equipment, including lubrication, filter changes, and minor repairs.
  • Communicating effectively with team members and clientele to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
  • Maintaining accurate records of drilling activities, equipment usage, and inventory.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols, regulations, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Proven experience as a driller in the oil and gas industry (Specifically core hole drilling operations. (Willing to train the right candidate)
  • Proficient knowledge of drilling equipment, machinery, and drilling techniques.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
  • Excellent understanding of safety procedures and the ability to always prioritize safety.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to withstand the demands of the job, including working in challenging weather conditions and performing manual labor.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently, demonstrating self-motivation and reliability.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work flexible hours as required.
  • In-depth knowledge of drilling equipment, techniques, and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with team members and clientele.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software relevant to drilling operations.
  • Valid oil field tickets including First Line Blow out prevention (Willing to train the right candidate)
  • Valid driver's license with clean abstract (Preference given to Class 3 and Class 1 drivers)
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Be proficient with digital software tools that are used for safety documentation, employee status and equipment work orders.
