Job description

Thompson Construction Group has current openings for Dozer Operators supporting operations in the Fort McMurray area. This role involves operating dozers safely and efficiently within active construction and earthworks environments while maintaining high standards of safety, communication, and equipment care.

Responsibilities
  • Operate dozers for tasks including ditching, sloping, ripping, and excavation support
  • Read and interpret grade stakes and site plans as required
  • Perform pre-operational and routine equipment inspections prior to use
  • Follow direction from supervisors regarding work areas and daily tasks
  • Maintain awareness of ground disturbance requirements and underground utilities
  • Operate equipment in accordance with company policies, procedures, and safe work practices
  • Participate in site safety meetings and safety programs
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns
  • Report incidents, near misses, and equipment damage to site supervision
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, spotters, and other operators
  • Assist with general site duties as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating dozers in heavy civil construction, earthworks, or mining environments
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray area and reside in remote camps on a rotational schedule
  • CSO certification required
  • Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive, and First Aid considered assets
  • GPS experience (Topcon / Trimble) considered an asset
  • Physically capable of performing assigned duties
  • Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
