About the Role

Reporting

The Director of Strategic Sourcing and Acquisition (Spares) reports directly to the Vice President of Spares.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead procurement and acquisition activities for high-value, project-specific purchases, including tear-down asset acquisitions, ensuring alignment with project timelines, technical specifications, and commercial objectives.
  • Oversee asset replenishment and project-driven sourcing requirements, balancing cost, lead time, inventory risk, and operational priorities.
  • Establish and oversee inventory replenishment strategies to optimize stock availability, working capital, and pricing performance.
  • Develop and maintain sourcing strategies for key product categories, leveraging market intelligence to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
  • Provide strategic data analysis on cost trends, supplier performance, and purchasing activities to support decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Support sales initiatives through strategic sourcing, pricing support, and supplier negotiations, contributing directly to deal execution and revenue generation.
  • Oversee delivery schedules and logistics coordination for project-based acquisitions, ensuring on-time fulfillment and compliance with contractual and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to support project success, including:
    • Inventory
    • Sales
    • Repairs
    • Parts Purchasing
    • Product Improvement
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer service in accordance with Avmax operational standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in business, aviation, or a related field is considered an asset; an equivalent combination of education and senior-level experience will be considered.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain working relationships with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and commercial decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate cost, risk, and value in complex sourcing and acquisition scenarios.
  • Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement in high-value, high impact sourcing and acquisition decisions.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strategic focus and execution discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, including responsibility for high-value or complex acquisitions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and deal execution, supporting both sourcing and sales initiatives.
  • Experience in the aviation industry is considered an asset.
