Job description

Stantec is seeking a Director of Expertise in Climate Change Solutions to lead the continued growth of our Climate Solutions team in Canada, with a strong focus on Quebec.

You are a recognized leader in climate change adaptation and resilience studies and strategy development. You combine technical and social expertise on climate change impacts on the built environment, integration of climate risk into lifecycle and asset management plans, and resilience planning. You also bring a strong business network to drive the growth of our climate solutions team.

Reporting to one of our Environmental Services leaders in Quebec, you will also contribute to projects assessing climate change impacts on infrastructure, utilities, and communities. You will support all Stantec business sectors: Buildings, Transportation, Energy & Resources, Infrastructure, and Water.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Growth of Climate Solutions Services in Quebec:
    • Identify and develop new opportunities.
    • Prepare effective technical proposals.
    • Drive business development with new and existing clients.
    • Build and expand client relationships for recurring business.
  • Increase Stantec’s Market Presence:
    • Leverage client relationships to grow climate change and resilience services in Quebec and Canada.
    • Collaborate with Stantec practitioners across global offices to support overall growth.
  • Business Development & Strategic Leadership:
    • Work with practice leaders, sector leaders, and account managers to increase revenue.
    • Maintain and implement regional climate solutions project plans.
    • Support strategic pursuits and Go/No-Go decisions.
    • Develop technical proposals for key projects.
  • Identify risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Analyze impacts on built and natural environments and communities.
  • Prioritize risks based on client criteria.
  • Recommend adaptation measures (technical solutions, policies, regulations, emergency plans).
  • Develop adaptation plans.
  • Internal Collaboration:
    • Act as a climate solutions resource for colleagues across all Stantec sectors.
    • Support cross-selling of services to existing clients.
Responsibilities

Your Keys to Success

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a climate change–related field.
  • Strong knowledge of climate change challenges in Canada.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and internationally.
  • Excellent communication skills (French & English), strategic thinking, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Planning, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Solid knowledge of risk assessment tools and standards.
  • Familiarity with best practices for adaptation measures and implementation.
  • Experience facilitating meetings with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills.
