Job description
Overview

At Pine, we’re on a mission to revolutionize the Canadian mortgage experience. By harnessing modern technology and a people-first approach, we’re delivering a simpler, faster, and more transparent home financing journey for Canadians. With backing from North America’s top VCs, we’re scaling quickly as one of Canada’s fastest-growing fintech companies.

About the Role

Director, Mortgage Sales & Originations — you will be responsible for leading Pine’s revenue-driving engine. Reporting to the COO, you’ll oversee the front-line sales teams: Mortgage Advisors, Business Development Representatives, and Customer Success. Your primary mandate is to drive mortgage originations and develop scalable, data-driven strategies that improve sales effectiveness and client conversion. This role requires a dynamic sales leader with deep mortgage experience, a track record of building and optimizing high-performing teams, and the ability to operate strategically in a fast-paced, tech-enabled environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Own Pine’s mortgage originations targets and build sales strategies that drive measurable growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Managers of Mortgage Advisors and the Manager of the BDR team to maximize individual and team performance.
  • Foster a results-oriented, customer-obsessed culture across all sales functions.
Performance & Optimization
  • Set, track, and analyze KPIs across sales funnels (from lead generation to funded loans) and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop training programs, performance frameworks, and incentive structures to elevate conversion and close rates.
  • Leverage CRM and analytics tools to assess lead quality, sales velocity, and advisor performance.
Go-to-Market Execution
  • Partner with Marketing to align lead generation efforts with sales capacity and conversion priorities.
  • Collaborate with Product and Operations to ensure the mortgage experience supports high customer satisfaction and reduces friction across the sales journey.
  • Influence pricing, positioning, and messaging strategies to optimize competitiveness and appeal.
Process Innovation
  • Design and implement scalable sales workflows, playbooks, and best practices to enable consistent, high-quality client interactions.
  • Ensure a seamless handoff between business development, advisory, and fulfillment stages of the mortgage process.
Strategic Leadership
  • Provide the COO and executive team with regular updates on sales pipeline, originations performance, and revenue outlook.
  • Act as a key voice in shaping Pine’s go-to-market strategy, product roadmap, and long-term sales growth plans.
What You Bring to the Table
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in mortgage sales, financial services, or fintech, with a focus on high-volume originations.
  • 3+ years in a senior leadership role managing multiple teams or managers.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets in a competitive market.
  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian mortgage industry, including products, regulatory requirements, and consumer behaviour.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using data to drive decision-making and performance management.
  • Outstanding communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Startup or high-growth environment experience is a strong asset.
Diversity & Inclusion

We’re committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company. That’s why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table.
