About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and as a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Engineering, Parks, and Environment is responsible and accountable for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the City’s engineering services, engineering operations, and parks operations. The broad scope of this role requires an individual who is both a visionary and willing to roll up their sleeves and act. Collaborating with partners, stakeholders, and representatives from various organizations, the Director will be involved with major projects, including the new Langley Surrey SkyTrain, the construction of a new Operations Centre and will be instrumental with updating the Development Cost Charges Bylaw and the development of an Amenity Cost Charges Bylaw.

The Director will oversee asset management planning, infrastructure renewal, and major utility, transit, and transportation projects. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for providing leadership for parks, operations, and environmental planning.

This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced municipal leader and engineer to inspire a highly skilled team in a dynamic and rapidly growing area of Metro Vancouver. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to advance integral projects and initiatives through effective communication, innovation, and accountability. The successful candidate will hold a University degree in Civil Engineering combined with registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia, supplemented by municipal engineering experience with senior management responsibility. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

The salary for this position is $174,787 – $190,994 annually and is complemented by an excellent benefits package and a supportive, innovative working environment.
