Overview

Title: Director, Data Management, GBM Finance

The incumbent has responsibility for the technical design, development, and optimization of GBM finance MIS applications. These applications provide necessary financial and management information to assist and support users in managing their businesses and in performing reporting, financial planning, and analytics functions.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide oversight of data management activities specific to GBM Finance including systems used for planning and forecasting and prioritization of future data and planning initiatives.

    • Guide the ongoing enhancements and maintenance of the Essbase cubes.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, operation efficiencies and new data and/or function development.
  2. Automation & Process Optimization

    • Lead process automation to improve efficiency in financial reporting, forecasting and planning.
    • Work closely with GBM Finance business partners to enable efficient delivery of recurring financial deliverables including G/L, Blue Book and Plan.
    • Design new reporting tools to enhance current monthly/quarterly reporting processes.
    • Design tools for regional finance groups which are region specific.
    • Oversight in all GBM Finance reporting tools and ensures consistency and optimization of data.
  3. Support transition to Anaplan related to GBM MIS data

    • Research, design and implement changes to maintain and expand capabilities to meet current and future data needs related to transition to Anaplan
    • Key member of Anaplan project team to ensure delivery of cube data
    • Build out intake model for cubes from Anaplan and lead design and reporting standards
  4. Governance activities

    • Lead and advise on all structural changes to chart of accounts (CofA) including participation in local ledger set up.
    • Data restructuring activities including CofA set up and advising on historical entries required
    • Engagement with GTB Finance management to ensure GTB cube management, as applicable.
  5. People Management

    • Build a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing development planning for the team.
    • Oversight of team of ~5 direct/indirect reports in effective development, maintenance, and optimization of the data
Qualifications
  • University degree in accounting, finance or related field. Professional designation a plus.
  • Understanding of the data and sources populating the MIS data set (e.g. EGL, COFA, OBI, Hyperion, etc.).
  • Understanding of the interdependencies of data sets including source data sets.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle reporting tools.
  • Experience with database and report development and understanding of user reporting needs.
  • Results oriented, detail oriented, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to apply this knowledge to the resolution of complex business issues related to the MIS.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and written skills including documentation of processes, procedures and training guides.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GBM business lines, performance measurement systems, accounting systems and an explicit knowledge of reporting relationships within GBM.
