Position: Director, Broadcast

Term: 1 year

Position Summary

The Director, Broadcast will lead Canucks Sports & Entertainment’s broadcast strategy, owning relationships with local, national, and streaming broadcast partners to ensure exceptional delivery of live games and original programming as it relates to CSE teams. This role serves as the primary liaison between CSE and its broadcast partners, overseeing all aspects of planning, production, and execution to ensure alignment with league standards, storytelling objectives, and commercial goals. With a deep understanding of both the technical and creative sides of broadcast production, the Director, Broadcast will work closely with internal departments, including Content, Communications, Hockey Operations, and Corporate Partnerships, to produce high-impact content that enhances the fan experience and drives business value. This is a one (1) year term contract.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Own the relationship with local, national, and streaming broadcast partners, serving as the primary point of contact for all broadcast-related initiatives.
  • Partner with broadcast networks to continuously elevate the quality and consistency of live game broadcasts and original programming, ensuring alignment with brand and league standards.
  • Stay ahead of emerging broadcast technologies and industry trends, continually identifying opportunities to innovate and enhance the fan viewing experience across traditional and digital platforms.
  • Work closely with Hockey Operations and Communications to coordinate player and coach access, ensuring seamless integration into broadcast content.
  • Maintain and own the broadcast integration content calendar, proactively programming relevant and engaging content in alignment with key moments and storylines.
  • Serve as executive producer on key projects, providing creative and operational direction during live events, studio shoots, and remote productions optimized for broadcast.
  • Manage Vancouver Warriors broadcasts including hiring and managing on‑air talent and broadcast production.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop on‑camera talent to ensure strong performance and consistent brand voice.
  • Ensure all content adheres to rights agreements, usage guidelines, and league regulations across platforms.
  • Represent the Broadcast department in cross‑functional planning meetings, contributing strategic input on media distribution and content amplification.
You Must Have
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Broadcast Production, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience in broadcast production, with a proven track record leading live event and studio productions in sports and/or entertainment.
  • Strong relationships and experience working directly with broadcast partners at the local, national, and/or streaming level.
  • Familiarity with league broadcast standards (e.g., NHL, AHL, NLL, or comparable) and comfort navigating rights, clearances, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to identify and nurture creative and on‑air talent, and lead a team.
  • Effective and enthusiastic collaboration and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work well under tight timelines and to remain positive and calm under pressure.
  • An open mind to new ideas and approaches, and the ability to adapt well to change.
