Job summary

A local eco-resort operation in Powell River is searching for a Guide to lead 4–5 day sea kayak tours in Desolation Sound. The role requires strong outdoor experience and excellent communication skills among others. Candidates should be physically fit, have appropriate guiding certifications, and preferably possess local knowledge of the area. This position offers casual guiding shifts in summer and full season roles from mid-June to mid-September. Assistance with certification costs may be available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Minimum certification: Assistant Overnight Guide (AOG) with Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC.
• Physically fit and capable of managing groups on the water and land.
• Local knowledge of Powell River / Desolation Sound region is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Guide groups on 4–5 day sea kayak tours in Desolation Sound.
• Maintain guest safety and risk management standards.
• Assist in the resort kitchen and support meal service.
• Lead activities such as snorkelling, hiking, and nature interpretation.
