Job description

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms. In this role, you will work closely with analytics, BI, and business teams to enable reliable data access and support data-driven decision making. You’ll also contribute to modernization initiatives, including cloud migration and platform enhancements.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong Python and SQL expertise, experience with ETL development, and a solid foundation in data modeling and warehousing.

Contract | 12 Months (Potential Extension / Conversion)

Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week - Tues, Wed, Thurs)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Hourly Rate: $61.50 (Incorporated) | $53.50 (T4)

RESPONSABILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes
• Build and support data models and data warehouse infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (analytics, BI, and business stakeholders) to deliver data solutions
• Support technology modernization and migration initiatives to modern platforms
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of data systems across cloud and on-prem environments
• Troubleshoot data issues and implement automation to improve data quality and operational efficiency
• Contribute to documentation, best practices, and continuous improvement of data engineering workflows

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering and ETL development
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and automation (critical requirement)
• Solid understanding of:
  • Data Modeling
  • Data Warehousing concepts
  • Analytics pipelines and reporting architectures
• Experience designing and maintaining production-grade data pipelines
• Proven involvement in technology modernization or migration projects
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Clear communication skills and comfort working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Disqualifier: Candidates must demonstrate 3–5+ years of hands-on experience using both Python and SQL.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS data services (e.g., SageMaker or similar tooling)
• Exposure to SAS and/or WebFOCUS
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows or data science integration
• Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data engineering
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms
