Join Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan as a Data Architect in the Enterprise Data Platforms team, responsible for designing and consulting on data models and solutions. This role involves working with teams to ensure technical soundness and meeting business needs through advanced data management and integration strategies.
We are looking for Data Architect to join the Enterprise Data Platforms team within our Data & Analytics program. You will be responsible for designing, delivering and consulting on logical and physical data models, virtualized and persistent integrated data sets, data access layer designs, and other data management aspects of solution development as part of the holistic suite of technology solutions provided to business teams.
Communicate and interact effectively with systems professionals and end users who are not systems experts. Work independently, prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines and produce an adequate volume of work. You will be working closely with solution engineering, product groups, and business partners to define, design and implement data architecture standards and solutions to ensure that our enterprise data architecture is technically sound and meets the needs of our business.
Data Modeling
Lead the creation and update of logical and physical bi-temporal relational and dimensional data models (and related documentation) for new and existing subject areas, including financial instruments, legal entities, reference, collateral, transactions, positions/valuations, benchmarks, performance, exposure and risk measures.
Track and monitor the known gaps in the data requirements/ model and develop reporting to communicate overall progress toward end-state of the enterprise warehouse services.
Determines appropriate integration patterns through hands-on experimentation including some of the following activities:
Transform and clean raw data to adopt appropriate store model for selection data type
Aggregating data to ensure suitability for analytical consumption
Filtering information to eliminate irrelevant, duplicated, or overly sensitive data
Joining and / or integrating two or more database tables via their matching attributes
Data validation and processing
Contribute to the design of access security (row-based vs. column-based).
Work with subject matter experts, Business Analysts and Technology teams to understand the data requirements and the full attribute set for entities and dimensions.
Advise downstream data consumers on design of data consumption and data marts to meet specific end-user reporting requirements.
Develop and maintain data documentation such as entity relationship models (ERDs), data lineage, meta data and transformation rules.
Contribute towards development of data standards, data dictionaries, data quality rules, processes, and definitions of project and data requirements in support of strategy and ongoing operational support.
Participate in solution/compute/Infrastructure design to accommodate workload requirements for business solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent IT (Information Technology) experience
Five years of progressive experience in the asset management/capital markets/investment management industry preferred
Six years of experience in the following: architecting enterprise information systems, analyzing inter-relationships between various domains of enterprise information
Extensive experience with modelling in a Data Warehousing and BI (Business Intelligence) context (star schemas, BI modelling issues such as slowly changing dimensions).
Experience with architectures supporting data integration and data orchestration for different data consumption requirements: operational data store, data warehouse, data marts, analytical data stores
Must have strong hands-on modelling, data integration and solution design experience - including strong version control, repository management, merge/compare utilities, and management of target models.
Experience with cloud data platforms and understanding of lake house Architecture
Experience with data and service integration both on prem and cloud
Proven record of delivering executable, communicable data models
Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL server (AzureSQL, SQL MI, and Cloud data platform – Snowflake preferred)
Hands-on experience with an analytical tools e.g. Power BI
Hands-on experience with Python and spark framework
Strong communication skills with the ability to present and explain data in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding at peer levels.
