Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing technical procedures within the Cytology Laboratory including, but not limited to, screening of non-gynecological specimens including Fine Needle Aspirations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for performing technical procedures within the Histology Laboratory, including but not limited to, embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining, and frozen sections. Candidates must be available for all shifts in Cytology and Histology.

Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of a recognized program for Medical Laboratory Technology - Diagnostic Cytology (or expected to graduate early 2026)
  • Must be registered and a member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) including Diagnostic Cytology and Histology (or expected to become a member early 2026)
  • Experience with and demonstrated understanding of quality assurance and good laboratory practice
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, high level of initiative and good organizational skills
  • Evidence of participation in continuing education
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Epic and other computer software applications
  • Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience in cytology
  • Good understanding of microanatomy
  • Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
