Overview

Our Customs teams is looking for an agile Customs Specialist to manage daily customs import/export operations (tactical) while assisting the Customs Compliance Officer with strategic trade compliance project initiatives.

Your Tasks:
  • Review and verify import/export documentation for accuracy, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any missing or incomplete information.
  • Maintain and update product classifications in SAP, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, including PGA, SIMA, ADD, CVD, and ECCN. Audit part descriptions and HS tariff codes for consistency and accuracy.
  • Lead and execute Free Trade Agreement (FTA) solicitations, determinations, and certifications.
  • Address and resolve transactional inquiries from Customs brokers, freight forwarders, and stakeholders regarding holds or Notices of Action. Collaborate with Procurement and Engineering teams on new product SKUs.
  • Provide advice to internal and external customers on Customs compliance matters.
  • Contribute to the department’s Quality Management System (QMS) by identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and better system and compliance understanding.
  • Support the Customs Compliance Officer’s trade compliance projects including audits, corrective actions, digitalization, drawbacks, CTPAT/PIP/AEO and GTM.
Requirements:
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation required, with at least 3+ years of experience in commodity rating and free trade agreements, preferably in a brokerage environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, customs authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and be proactive in owning projects and processes, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with an ability to identify potential risks and solutions.
  • Recognized for continuous learning and adaptability, with a track record of implementing improvements that enhance organizational performance.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel; SAP experience is a plus.
