Your Impact:

Pearce/ Unified is seeking a Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer) for Vancouver and the surrounding areas, with a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to succeed and learn new skills. As a Critical Power Technician, you will directly support our customers in the onsite preventive, corrective, and restorative maintenance of their critical power systems (i.e., UPS, DC systems, inverters, PDUs, STS, and standalone reserve battery technologies). As a UPS Field Service Engineer for Unified Power, you will possess and apply the 'hit‑the‑ground‑running' and 'think‑outside‑the‑box' mindsets that drive swift, superior solutions to address our customers' needs.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Field Engineer will include, but not be limited to:

  • Commission, maintain, and provide emergency support for power electronics at customer sites within the designated geographic area.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, equipment start‑ups, field modifications, and/or battery replacements.
  • Participate in the development of Methods of Procedures (MOP) when required.
  • Participate in regular training sessions held at the company's headquarters, utilizing test equipment to enhance troubleshooting skills.
  • Discuss problems related to the maintenance or operation of equipment, with in‑house and OEM technical support, when necessary.
  • Communicate with customer site personnel to keep them apprised of all onsite or equipment‑related issues.
Requirements

  • 3‑5 years working in the critical power industry with UPS, DC Power Systems, and/or OEM experience.
  • Technical degree or certificate in electronics or electrical engineering.
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot faults to component level on equipment such as UPS systems, batteries, DC power systems, PDUs, Inverter Systems, etc.
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturers (OEM) specifications.
  • Capable of utilizing hand tools and test equipment to perform work.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Extremely customer service‑oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and be resourceful with good initiative and discipline.
  • Must be able to perform repeated bending & lifting of up to 100 pounds during certain services.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be willing to travel, work nights and weekends when necessary, and be available for on‑call readiness 24/7 with occasional periods of extended travel.
  • Must be willing to apply for Security Clearance with Provincial and Federal Government (Clean criminal record required).
  • Valid Passport for occasional out‑of‑country travel preferred.

Base Pay Range

$70,000 – $80,000 CAD
