Here’s the Scoop - Summary

The Credit Associate (12 month contract) plays a key role in Customer Account Administration and Risk mitigation including timely reconciliations, collections, and various reporting functions.

This role supports the growth of the company, developing strong working relationships with both internal and external customers.

The Credit Associate (12 month contract) is required to consult regularly with the Credit Manager to ensure general Accounts Receivable collection goals and performance levels meet established Departmental and Corporate requirements.

The Credit Associate works out of our Corporate Edmonton office, and reports to the Credit Manager.

What a typical day looks like?
  • Responsible for overall customer account management, research and resolution of balances and account reconciliations for an assigned portfolio of accounts.
  • Collection of accounts receivable, ability to negotiate customer payment arrangements.
  • Consult on collection strategies to mitigate objections to making timely A/R payments, investigate problematic or delinquent accounts and communicate with customers regarding relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Address customer inquiries pertaining to account balances, invoice/statement copies, claims status, etc., responding in a knowledgeable and timely manner.
  • Evaluate credit risk and ensure effective credit control measures to manage the credit risk exposure of the Company.
  • Cultivate close working relationships with internal and external customers and sales teams to assist in attaining the full potential within the credit policy of the company for an assigned portfolio of accounts.
  • Assist in streamlining the accounts receivable process by identifying areas for performance improvement.
  • Has expertise in optimizing credit opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of the Company’s financial records.
What we are looking for?
  • Open to work a 12 month contract.
  • Post‑secondary diploma in Business, Accounting or Finance and five years’ directly related work experience in a Credit/Collection capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with International Customers is an asset.
  • Knowledge and expertise needed to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records, and to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations.
  • A Self‑starter with previous experience working in a high performing environment.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills, with accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to develop and sustain successful internal and external working relationships.
  • Ability to pivot focus to align with evolving business needs.
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and within a team environment.
  • Computer competency with basic accounting software, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet programs and applications.
  • Ability to respect and maintain matters of a confidential nature, including information regarding monetary transactions.
  • Some extended hours of work may be required.
