The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma, Stage 3 Crane Certificate, and at least 3 years of relevant experience. DEPARTMENT : Marine

SUPERVISES : Assistant Crane Operator and Roustabouts

LOCATION : Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

JOB SUMMARY : The Crane Operator is responsible for supervising, organizing operations related to loading, unloading, and mobilizing drilling equipment and other equipment, as well as performing physical work. The person also handles first-line maintenance of cranes and relevant lifting appliances.

PRE-REQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Crane Operator on a 6th Generation Ultra-Deepwater Semi-Submersible or similar installation
  • Stage 3 Crane Certificate or Equivalent
  • Structured and organized mindset
  • High level of integrity
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to pass Physical, Drug Screen, and Background / Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for all loading and unloading operations of supply vessels, including all lifting and loading appliances, and their daily maintenance.
  • Train the deck crew, including the Assistant Crane Operator, in required operations.
  • Ensure safe use of lifting equipment according to authorities, requirements, and procedures.
  • Be familiar with all chemicals handled onboard.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the pipe deck and assist with casing operations.
  • Keep the paint store tidy and ensure proper storage of the drill string with thread protectors; inspect and maintain straps and shackles, and order equipment as needed.
  • Report any non-compliance issues immediately to the supervisor.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and professionally; actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Assist in jobs or projects as requested by the immediate superior.
  • Operate cranes safely, following procedures for safe lifting operations.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs within the responsibility area to minimize downtime.
  • Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Ensure safe operation of cranes, adhering to rules and regulations, and prepare TBRA for all lifts.
  • Update electronic loading plans and use them effectively.
  • Participate in emergency duties as per the unit's emergency organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
