Overview

Join to apply for the Cost & Risk Advisory Leader role at Arup. Toronto-based opportunity supporting the Americas Region Advisory Services. You will lead a diverse team and work closely with clients, providing advice related to constructability, cost, project development and delivery risks, procurement, and financing of a broad range of infrastructure projects focusing on sustainability, decarbonization, resilience, and ESG principles.

The Opportunity
  • Lead teams that prepares various analyses such as cost estimating, life cycle cost analysis, scheduling, risk modelling, means and methods, and constructability assessments.
  • Be proactive in the market and active in the industry, participating at industry professional events.
  • Engage on some of Canada’s most complex, innovative and city-shaping projects.
  • Capture and understand clients’ needs and requirements through developing compelling proposals to support and deliver their ambitions and outcomes.
  • Develop strong client relationships through delivery of excellence.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a diverse and growing team.
  • Actively engage in Arup’s strategy objectives, supporting the region and ensuring commitment to excellence and Total Design.
Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects including cost engineering, procurement, construction delivery and/or operations.
  • Provide leadership in constructability and risk analysis, cost engineering principles, and technical design understanding.
  • Develop client relationships and engage in proposal development and business development activities.
  • Mentor and manage team members, promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Contribute to Arup’s strategy and Total Design objectives.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 12 years’ professional experience within the Architecture, Engineering or Construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; postgraduate education in business, construction management, or finance preferred.
  • Strong experience in infrastructure project development, procurement, construction, delivery and/or operations.
  • Demonstrated understanding and practical application of Cost Engineering principles and deep technical understanding of engineering and design principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to manage multi-disciplinary projects with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills; membership in professional organizations such as AACEi is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to support leadership activities and client engagements.
  • Analytical mindset and strategic thinking; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience in energy or infrastructure sectors is a plus.
