WSP is looking for a Cost Controller for one of our offices located in the province of Quebec to support major projects in our ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector.This role is crucial for maintaining strong financial governance, accurate forecasting, and alignment with funding and gated approval processes. The Cost Controller will collaborate closely with project managers, the PMO, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure high-quality cost performance and reporting.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will lead cost control activities for nuclear infrastructure projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • You will develop and maintain detailed cost estimates and support change control processes.
  • You will implement Earned Value Management (EVM) and change management.
  • You will monitor project performance against forecasts and produce reports for project leadership.
  • You will ensure approved funding for expenditures and the accurate recording of all project costs.
  • You will define, develop, and document multiple dependent or independent budgets.
  • You will approve changes to baseline estimates and forecasted performance.
  • You will identify and resolve deviations from the plan, including potential future impacts.
  • You will plan staffing and project hours to ensure resource alignment.
  • You will conduct periodic reevaluations of scope, cost, and schedule.
  • You will evaluate total project cost status and provide accurate forecasts.
  • You will manage client expectations and coach others in effective negotiation.
  • You will lead and mentor junior and intermediate cost controllers.
  • You will support the development of cost control systems, tools, and processes.
  • You will keep track of change logs and supervise the change order process.
  • You will ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled within assigned budgets.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in cost control, including at least 5 years in major projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Experience with InEight, PowerBI, and Primavera P6 (an asset).
  • Construction Site Safety Training, (the candidate will occasionally travel).
  • Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading teams.
  • Motivated self-starter with sharp attention to detail and a team-oriented approach.
  • Bilingualism is required as the individual will participate in national initiatives that involve communication with English- and French-speaking colleagues.
