About You and this Role

Dow is seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan (Alberta, Canada).

In this role, you will support accurate financial reporting and informed business decision‑making. You will ensure accounting records are complete, compliant, and reflective of operational performance. Additionally, you will partner with business and plant teams to deliver product costing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis that supports productivity, pricing alignment, and cost optimization.

This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, general business acumen, and the ability to apply established procedures to analyze and resolve standard financial issues. You will operate as an individual contributor, accountable for your work and its timely completion.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure financial statements accurately reflect operating results and financial position
  • Record, monitor, analyze, and communicate functional and business results in compliance with accounting standards
  • Perform product costing, analyze variances, and communicate results to plant and business management
  • Conduct inventory and fixed asset reviews
  • Provide financial analysis for decision‑making, including project evaluations, options analysis, and productivity benchmarking
  • Support budget setting and monthly/quarterly forecasting and estimate processes
  • Use data insights and established algorithms to support pricing alignment with business strategies
  • Analyze execution outcomes to reduce execution costs and minimize opportunity costs
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across functions and sub‑processes
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Business Administration) OR relevant military experience at a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class, Sergeant ranking or higher.
  • Previous relevant work experience is preferred
  • An accounting designation (e.g. CPA) would be an asset, but not a requirement.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Microsoft Excel: Uses Excel to analyze data, build models, perform variance analysis, and support budgeting, forecasting, and productivity benchmarking.
