We are committed to exceptional service, financial transparency, and long-term relationships with the communities, boards, and owners we serve.

Across all divisions of HGC, we pride ourselves on accuracy, quality, and accountability. Our teams work collaboratively to ensure smooth financial and operational performance, from day-to-day property management to large-scale maintenance and project undertakings. Join us, and be part of a company that values integrity, professionalism, and excellence in every aspect of financial management.

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Corporate Controller to lead the financial operations of HGC. In this role, you will oversee corporate, trust, and condominium accounting; streamline financial workflows; strengthen internal controls; and ensure accurate and timely reporting across all business units. You will play a key leadership role in supporting bookkeepers, collaborating with auditors and lenders, and developing systems that drive efficiency and financial stability.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable improving complex financial processes across multiple lines of business. You will be instrumental in ensuring the financial strength and long-term growth of HGC through strong oversight, compliance, and strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all corporate, trust, and condominium accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
  • Lead and support bookkeepers, promoting consistent financial practices and strong performance across all HGC entities.
  • Direct the month-end close process, including reconciliations, reviews, internal timelines, and standardized reporting packages.
  • Prepare quarterly financial updates for lenders and maintain reporting requirements and compliance for HGC financing.
  • Manage annual budgeting, ongoing forecasting, cash flow planning, and analysis of overhead and cost structures.
  • Streamline accounting workflows across accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintenance billing, and system integrations.
  • Improve system to system workflows to ensure accurate data flow for property and condo management accounting.
  • Establish and enforce internal controls, financial policies, checklists, and process documentation across all HGC divisions.
  • Work with external accountants on year-end preparation, quarterly reviews, and corporate compliance requirements.
  • Oversee trust accounting for property management and condominium operations, ensuring full compliance with RECA standards.
  • Coordinate annual RECA trust audits and support external auditors with required schedules, documentation, and reconciliations.
  • Review condominium corporation financial statements before distribution to boards and ensure all scheduled deliverables are met.
  • Support reserve, capital, and major project financial planning to ensure proper documentation, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Monitor financial risks across HGC operations and propose mitigation strategies to protect financial stability.
Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in accounting leadership, ideally in real estate, condominium management, property management, or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and familiarity with property management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement, and refine financial workflows and systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and divisions.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, multiple priorities, and complex financial environments.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA designation or 8+ years of experience in field
  • Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Knowledge of reserve fund planning, capital project accounting, or multi-entity financial management.
  • Strong relationship-building with external partners.
  • Knowledge of trust accounting principles; RECA trust experience is a strong asset.
  • Understanding of property management, maintenance, and project-based cost accounting.
  • Ability to identify process gaps and lead organization-wide improvements.
