Job summary

A leading global real estate investment management advisor is seeking a Corporate Accountant in Vancouver, BC. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Finance/Accounting and at least 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience. You will be responsible for preparing corporate accounting reports and managing various accounting functions. The salary range for this role is between $65,000 and $75,000.

Qualifications

The Opportunity

As a member of our Corporate Accounting Team, the Corporate Accountant will be responsible for the accounting and reporting of the Canadian Corporate business units. This includes corporate payables, government remittances, preparation of various accounting reporting packages and assisting other team members on a regular basis. The candidate will work within the Finance team and liaise with the Corporate business unit stakeholders. The role will report to the Assistant Controller, Corporate Finance.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare monthly corporate accounting reporting packages; including supplemental schedules and provide explanation of significant variances
  • Prepare monthly intercompany reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly mobility account reconciliations
  • Prepare month end closing journal entries and accruals
  • Prepare and coordinate IFRS 16 entries
  • Manage monthly capitalization & depreciation process for Fixed Assets
  • Manage prepaid expense and amortization schedule
  • Prepare monthly tax reconciliations and remittance
  • Prepare wire transfers, review invoices and employee expense reports
  • Maintain A/R ledger, prepare chargeback invoices, manage collections and investigate overdue amounts
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliation and bank deposits
  • Assist with corporate budgets/forecast/profitability adjustments
  • Support various business unit leaders with financial information reports and requests
  • Assist in ad hoc requests and analysis, and
  • Embrace and proactively support BGO's culture of environmental sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility
Who You Are
  • Education: University/College degree/diploma in Finance/Accounting; enrolled in CPA program
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of full‑cycle accounting experience; real estate knowledge an asset
  • Communication & Relationship Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with a variety of personalities; positive attitude and team player
  • Organizational & Time Management Skills: Ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment and manage tight deadlines; possess a good sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple demands, competing priorities and adapt to new ideas and constant changes while maintaining a keen attention to detail; work independently with minimum supervision; and take ownership of job responsibilities
  • Computer Skills: Advanced skills in Excel required; knowledge of Yardi, Elevate, and Concur an asset
  • Police Clearance: A criminal verification check is required for employment
