Canada Basketball is the national sport governing body for amateur basketball in Canada. EMPLOYMENT TYPE

Anticipated Start Date: April 1, 2026
Hours of Work: Canada Basketball’s regular hours of work are 40 hours per week, namely Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day and 5 days a week. However, the demands of your position may require your hours of work to vary to meet the objectives of your employment. Travel is required for this position.

OVERVIEW

The Coordinator, Women’s Basketball Operations supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of Canada Basketball’s women’s high-performance and national team programs. This role provides critical administrative, operational, and logistical support across all women’s high-performance initiatives, including national teams, athlete and coach development programs, and targeted strategies. Working closely with the Director, Basketball Operations & CEO Initiatives and the GM/EVP, Women’s High Performance, national team staff, and key stakeholders, the Coordinator ensures programs operate efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with organizational policies and strategic objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Help to plan, coordinate and execute events and programs within the women’s high-performance program.
  • Oversee the women’s high performance internship program. Recruit, hire, train and manage the women’s high performance interns each quarter.
  • Coordinate and update the women’s high-performance portion of the Canada Basketball database including the master athlete database and individual athlete files and information.
  • Help to coordinate all aspects of the administrative functions pertaining to the women’s Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS) and Targeted Coach Strategy (TCS), Junior Academy (JRA), the Tall Player Project (TPP) including the management of athlete and coach information.
  • Help with the development and improvement of all women’s high performance program related templates used within the national teams, TAS/TCS and other program components. Ensure that these templates are easily accessible, user-friendly, and kept up to date at all times.
  • Help to coordinate all aspects of women’s national team programming (tryout camps, training camps and competitions), including but not limited to securing facilities, coordinating travel, managing cash advances, coordinating apparel, equipment, and supplies distribution, collecting information from athletes and all on-site duties related to running a training and tryout camp, as well as communicating necessary information to the Communication and Events department and team support staff.
  • Develop material resources and communicate with women’s national team managers and other support staff to ensure successful completion of their duties. Train and manage women’s national team managers.
  • Assist with any applicable aspects of the women’s JRA, TAS and providing administrative support to the GM/EVP WHP Program and Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSOs) where appropriate based on CB’s role.
  • Help to coordinate women’s high performance program equipment, apparel, footwear, and supplies, including ordering, distribution, inventory, and ensuring necessary quantities are in stock, packaged and easy to locate.
  • Coordinate the development and updates of a women’s national team operations manual, keeping all templates up to date.
  • Coordinate all women’s high-performance meetings and conference calls.
  • Support the activities of the GM/EVP WHP Program in ensuring that all women’s national team members and staff are advised of and adhere to the established association and national team program policies and procedures.
  • Act as the primary informational contact for the elite programs in the absence of the GM/EVP WHP.
  • Act as a resource to the basketball and sport community for information on the details of the women’s high performance and national team programs in general.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong administrative capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with athletes, coaches, support staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage logistics for events, travel, and high-performance sport environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in database management, document management, and Microsoft Office or similar platforms.
  • Post-secondary education in sport management, kinesiology, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in high-performance sport, national sport organizations, or elite athlete development programs.
  • Experience managing interns, volunteers, or staff.
  • Familiarity with long-term athlete development models and high-performance pathways.
  • Knowledge of basketball programs and structures in Canada considered an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as required.
