Coordinator, Recruitment & HR - Temporary up to 18 Months

Location: Guelph, ON, CA, N1G 2W1

Temporary full‑time from 01/12/2026 to 09/06/2027 (Temporary Absence of the Regular Incumbent)

Department: PR Business Operations

This position is represented by the agreement between the Professional Staff Association and the University of Guelph.

General Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources Physical Resources, the Coordinator, Recruitment & Human Resources is responsible for full‑cycle recruitment within the Physical Resources Department. This role supports the hiring of top talent by guiding Hiring Managers and Committees through structured interviews, panel debriefs, candidate scoring, and best practices, while ensuring alignment with Collective Agreements and Compacts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage full‑cycle recruitment process for multiple roles simultaneously ranging from high‑volume seasonal recruitment to manager‑level roles.
  • Track departmental vacancies, create and manage requisitions in the University’s Human Resources Management System.
  • Manage all internal hiring and their subsequent vacancies.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake meetings with Hiring Managers to ensure full understanding of hiring needs and job requirements.
  • Create role‑specific rubrics of competencies to effectively screen candidates.
  • Create individualized interview scripts for each competition using competency‑based models.
  • Schedule and attend interviews and participate on hiring panels.
  • Assist Managers and Directors with the completion of Job Evaluation documents.
  • Ensure all recruitment and selection criteria and outcomes are consistent with University Policy and Collective Agreement obligations.
  • Responsible for orientation and onboarding of new Physical Resources employees, assisting in the transition period from new hire to contributing staff member.
  • Other associated duties as required.

Requirements

  • Two‑year college degree in Human Resources or a related field (university degree preferred).
  • Minimum two years of related experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively with confidential information, tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent analytical skills and sound knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Word and Excel.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.

  • CHRP designation, either acquired or working towards it.
  • Experience recruiting in a unionized environment, with a sound understanding of collective agreements.

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
