Reporting to the AMS Superintendent, the AMS Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of autonomous mining systems. The role focuses on coordinating daily execution, removing constraints, managing interfaces between people, systems, and contractors, and supporting front-line leaders to maximise fleet availability and performance.

The AMS Coordinator acts as a key enabler for Supervisors by organising, facilitating, forecasting, auditing and managing operational and maintenance interactions across the autonomous environment, while ensuring alignment with Fortescue’s safety standards, decarbonisation strategy and Green Fleet transition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support AMS front-line leaders, execution and planning teams to ensure safe and effective daily autonomous operations.
  • Act as a key interface between AMS Operations, Maintenance, Planning and Technology teams to assist with job progression and resolution of constraints (systems, parts, tooling, access, or specialist support).
  • Lead and coordinate the rolling 72-hour AMS plan, ensuring risks, dependencies and constraints are identified and managed to minimise production impacts.
  • Support the elimination of live work through effective planning, system isolation coordination and adherence to ITR and safe autonomous maintenance practices.
  • Coordinate the mobilisation, access and supervision requirements of service contractors working within the autonomous operating area.
  • Assist with planned system outages, on-site shutdowns and autonomous fleet changeovers, ensuring alignment with site production and safety requirements.
  • Monitor autonomous system performance, incidents and interruptions, escalating issues and supporting root cause identification and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Actively support the adoption of new autonomous technologies in line with Fortescue’s Green Fleet and decarbonisation objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop capability across autonomous systems, digital platforms and emerging technologies
Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working in or around autonomous or highly automated mining environments (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices, system isolations and risk management in operational environments.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, technology teams and contractors.
  • Strong leadership and influencing capability, with the ability to support and unburden front-line supervisors.
