Your role

Your role:

The general purpose of the Chef de Partie (Cook) is to assist the Executive Chef and the rest of the GR Bistro team with the preparation of ingredients, menu planning, the strong execution of meals for staff and clients, and following proper food safe and sanitation practices to execute a daily lunch service for staff.

Responsibilities
  • Execution of Menu
    • Assisting with the planning, preparation, execution and service of a daily breakfast and lunch menu for approximately 400 staff
    • Follow preparation lists and daily maintenance checklists
    • Assist with catering and events
    • Provide appropriate presentation and service of finished product to staff and clients
    • Planning and preparing working lunches for guests and other special office gatherings
    • Provide appropriate presentation and service of finished product to staff
    • Some afterhours catering required
  • Sanitation
    • Follow food safety plans
    • Demonstrate proper food safety and sanitation techniques
    • Ensure proper cooling, storage and hot holding of food items
    • Ensure general cleanliness and upkeep of the lounge and equipment
    • Assist with dishwashing if needed
  • Inventory
    • Put orders away in accordance with food safety plan and “first in first out”
    • Maintain, organize and clean coolers and freezers
About you

About you:

  • 2 Year Culinary Arts Degree and/or 5 years of industry experience
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic with ability to maintain professionalism during high-volume service periods
  • Team player who communicates effectively and collaborates well with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Quick learner who is receptive to feedback and adapts easily when priorities change
  • Performs well under pressure while maintaining quality standards during busy lunch rushes and tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple prep tasks and maintain clean, organized workstations
Working conditions

Has the potential to be hazardous working with hot liquids and sharp objects. Must share space with general staff in a safe and responsible manner. Fast paced and high stress environment. Must meet deadlines daily. Potential for varying hours of work.

Physical requirements

This is a physically demanding job: it will require you to lift heavy objects, stand on your feet for long periods of time, and walk up and down stairs to access storage and coolers.

Compensation

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia’s pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background.

The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values.
