Qualifications

  • Current Food Safety and Handlers Certificate is mandatory.

Welcome to Milestones Early Learning Ashby! We're passionate about educating our children to know the importance and benefits of healthy choices and nutritious meals. We are a 65 placecentre now on the lookout for our next Cook to join our fun loving team!

The role
  • This role enables you to play an active part in creating healthy menus.
  • You’ll have access to a national network of centre cooks who regularly share recipes, questions, ideas and tips!
  • You’ll also be encouraged to utilise the amazing feed Australia program – a free program enabling cooks to plan, budget and access healthy menus to enable children’s growth and development while in child care.
About you
  • Efficient and capable cook
  • Able to prepare, implement and evaluate the nutritional content of menus for children of all ages
  • Experienced in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control
  • Strict about complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations and standards
  • Able to cater for individual child requirements including allergies, specific dietary requirements and needs
  • Keen to participate in the early educational opportunities of teaching children about healthy food by sharing in lessons and family events
You already have
  • Current Food Safety and Handlers (Health and Community) Certificate
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery / equivalent (desirable - not essential)
  • Experience in an early childhood setting
  • Reliable transport to and from our centre
  • Current first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylactic training) and resuscitation certificate
