A large healthcare system in Canada is seeking a full time consultant for its Acute Medicine department. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive range of consultant services, participate in direct clinical care, and engage in continuous professional development. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. This is a full time permanent position (40 hours).
This post has arisen from the development of the IAU and Acute Medicine department at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to provide a full range of consultant services as agreed with colleagues. It is expected that the successful candidate will share provision of care across the Initial Assessment Unit, Acute Receiving Units, Short Stay Ward, Ambulatory Care and Medical HDU based at the QEUH.
NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde initially allocates all full time consultants 10 PAs made up of 8 PAs in Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) for CPD, undergo an annual appraisal, and subsequently revalidation as determined by the General Medical Council (GMC). 1 SPA (4 hours) is allocated to this as well as personal job-planning. The precise allocation of SPA time including involvement in audit, clinical governance, teaching, clinical research, internal routine communication and management meetings as well as appraisal, revalidation, job planning and associate objectives will be agreed with the successful applicant and will be reviewed and agreed.
