Position Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of construction activities across mining sites in Ontario, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope and on budget. This role oversees contractors, manages project resources, ensures compliance with regulatory standards and collaborates closely with engineering, operations, procurement and health & safety teams. The Construction Manager provides strong leadership, technical expertise and proactive problem-solving to support greenfield and brownfield aspects of the mining project within a global organization committed to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution of construction activities for the phased development of the Grey Fox project, ensuring alignment with project scope, timelines and budgets.
  • Oversee construction contractors, including onboarding, performance management and compliance with company procedures, policies and safety standards.
  • Manage daily site activities to ensure safe work practices, adherence to engineering specifications and quality control requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to develop construction plans, review drawings and validate technical requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, assess risk, and implement mitigation strategies to resolve delays, conflicts and field execution challenges.
  • Ensure construction activities meet all regulatory and environmental requirements under Ontario’s mining, occupational health and safety and environmental legislation.
  • Lead regular site meetings, progress reviews, and reporting for leadership teams, providing accurate updates on schedule, cost and scope.
  • Manage construction budgets, review contractor invoices, validate progress claims and support cost-control processes.
  • Coordinate site readiness and facilitate transition from construction to commissioning and operational handover.
  • Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring all personnel adhere to safe work procedures, hazard assessments and incident reporting protocols.
  • Participate in bid evaluations, contractor selection and contract administration processes.
  • Participate in detailed engineering decisions, constructability reviews, planning and budgeting efforts.
  • Champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to optimize construction methods, efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • Technical degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, P.Eng., CET) considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in construction management, ideally within the mining, heavy industrial, or large-scale infrastructure sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading site construction activities, contractor management, and multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Proven track record delivering capital construction projects in remote or complex industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario construction regulations, OHSA requirements, and environmental compliance.
