Long Point Basin Land Trust (LPBLT) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support land stewardship, restoration, and biodiversity monitoring across its nature reserves in one of Canada’s most ecologically significant landscapes. This is a full‑time, 16‑week position ideal for someone looking to build experience in land and biodiversity conservation while working directly on the ground with LPBLT’s stewardship team.
LPBLT works to achieve conservation success through land acquisition, management, habitat restoration and species at risk recovery as well as associated outreach and engagement.

Land Stewardship Manager
The Conservation and Restoration Technician is a full-time, 16‑week position playing a key role to assist the Land Stewardship Manager with stewardship, restoration, management practices and measures of biodiversity on Long Point Basin Land Trust properties.
The Long Point basin encompasses Norfolk County and parts of Elgin, Haldimand, Brant, and Oxford Counties. This position is based out of the LPBLT headquarters in Port Rowan, ON. A significant portion of this role involves fieldwork on LPBLT nature reserves and other outdoor locations across the Long Point basin.
This is a full‑time, 16‑week contract position funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. The compensation is $20.00 per hour, based on a 37.5‑hour workweek. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
Assist the Land Stewardship Manager with the following duties:
Enrolled in, or completed, post‑secondary education in the field of biology, ecology or conservation, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of conservation biology, restoration ecology, and the native biodiversity of the Carolinian Region and Norfolk County.
Understanding the importance of restoration, stewardship, and management actions for conservation and biodiversity.
Familiarity with programs such as iNaturalist and Merlin Bird ID to identify and record species occurrences.
Prepared to travel, work flexible hours at times, and work in remote and rugged areas. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various conditions (e.g. high or low temperatures, rain, snow, biting insects).
Demonstrated field experience, including the identification and collation of biological inventory data, and the identification of and removal of invasive species.
Excellent organizational and time management skills that include managing multiple priorities and duties.
Oral, written, and interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate with landowners, volunteers, and the general public.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and OneDrive database. Ability to use GIS software is an asset.
Ontario pesticide and chainsaw training and certification is considered an asset.
High proficiency in identifying native Carolinian plant and wildlife species is an asset.
Valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
