Job summary

A well-known charitable organization is seeking an individual to assist in the operations of collecting and processing donations in their Food Recovery Program. This part-time position requires cleaning and repackaging recovered food, as well as working with clients in food distribution. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, some relevant experience, and the ability to lift heavy items. The position is targeted to pay between $19.93 and $24.91 per hour, based on experience. Starting date is ASAP.

Qualifications

  • Up to three (3) months of prior experience is acceptable.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance.

Job Description
Position Purpose summary

To assist in the operations of collecting and processing donations in the Food Recovery Program while practicing good stewardship of our donated resources. The applicant will serve local agencies and businesses, sort incoming products, and assist in Family Services operations.

Accountabilities

Clean and repackage recovered food. Pick up and process donated resources by unloading, sorting, placing, and loading donated items. Work with clients in food distribution. Contribute to the safety of staff and clients (e.g., clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside the building, clean spillage and assist in maintaining facility cleanliness). Take responsibility for the accurate completion of all client intake and recording into system. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Reports directly to: Corp Officer
  • Direct reports for this position: None
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT
  • Uses or maintains organization assets in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Does not process any financial transactions with no budget responsibilities.
  • Moderate material responsibility: proper storage, handling, and usage of food and supplies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Part-time 20 hours per week

Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry).

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $19.93 to $24.91 with a maximum of $29.89. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
