Our client, a leading financial institution inDowntown Toronto,is looking for a Communications Analyst to develop a communication plan/strategy and ensure alignment with business initiative objectives, milestones, and stakeholder needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.
Typical Day in role:
- Responsible for the development and production support of recurring communication deliverables as identified in the communication plan(s) and ad-hoc communication requests
- Assess initiative/business impact on internal/external stakeholders. Identify, analyze, mitigate and proactively respond to stakeholder needs
- Develop and manage delivery of strategic presentations and stakeholder communications for executive audiences, which may include Board Committees, Group Executive, Operating Committees, Program Sponsors, Steering Committee, Business platforms, Functions, and IT.
- Manage the creation and coordination of content, execution, and maintenance of various communication vehicles for stakeholders: orientation presentations, education sessions, which may include a SharePoint site, weekly or bi-weekly team updates as indicated, etc.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners and internal/external team members
- Responsible for creating electronic surveys and compiling results
- May be required to monitor mailboxes, triage emails, and coordinate timely responses from the appropriate subject matter experts
- Support the team through updates, access requests, posting materials, and maintain a library of communication material using online communication tools (SharePoint, intranet)
- Provide administration support to Senior Management, to ensure timely delivery
- Support Project teams with the coordination, design, and implementation of transition management/process adaptations for business units impacted by the initiative
- Assesses training needs and creates rollout toolkits, as well as coordinates and manages training activities
Must-Have Skills:
- Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint to create and edit content)
- Adobe Suite (will be using to create infographics and intranet content)
- 1-3+ years of communications and content creation experience. Junior candidates are welcome
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Project management experience with the ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines and priorities
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Creative thinker with the ability to distill complex information
- Strong work ethic, desire to learn and contribute
- 2-4 years of proven experience in Communications, preferably Corporate Communications, or Communications within an IT Project or Program Space
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of the financial services or technology industry.
- Portfolio demonstrating writing skills and experience (i.e. copy, presentations, communication materials, announcements, emails, articles, flyers, etc.)
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and escalate for resolution
- Proven presentation skills and demonstrated change management skills as applied to the communication of initiatives
- Project Management Knowledge – demonstrated ability to participate in a cross-functional project team, and experience with field rollout of a large IT or business process change
- Excellent communication skills – ability to determine the information and communication needs of stakeholders and project team (who, what, where, why, and how)
- Ability to retain knowledge of prior and current materials in development to enable consistency and re-use
- Strong written communication ability, including proof-reading, grammar, and conventions, and business-style writing (knowledge of the financial/banking sector terminology would be an asset)
- Advanced proficiency in MS/Office tools, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Publisher, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience using electronic communication technology and software, specifically webcasting, survey tools, SharePoint, and intranet publishing, includes good formatting and graphic design skills, and understanding of style, consistency, and colour sense
- Previous experience developing change communication and training is important. While not required, experience in education/adult learning would be an asset to the position
