Summary: JTL Integrated Machine Ltd. is seeking a skilled and motivated General Machinist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of conventional and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts and components to meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, blueprint reading, precision measurement, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities
  • Setup and Operation of Machine Tools: Set up and operate manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and saws.
  • Set up and operate CNC machine tools (lathes, mills) with Fanuc or similar controls, including loading programs, making necessary offsets and adjustments.
  • Select and mount appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
  • Adjust machine settings to achieve desired tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Blueprint Reading and Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensional requirements, tolerances, and machining sequences. Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Precision Measurement and Inspection: Use a variety of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and bore gauges, to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications. Perform in-process and final inspections of machined parts. Identify and report any non-conforming parts or machining errors.
  • Machining Tasks: Perform a variety of machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, tapping, boring, grinding, and sawing on various materials (steel, aluminum etc.). Machine parts to tight tolerances and specified finishes. Deburr and finish machined parts as required.
  • Program Editing and Optimization (for CNC): Load and edit existing CNC programs. Make minor program adjustments and optimize machining parameters for efficiency and quality.
  • Maintenance and Housekeeping: Perform routine maintenance on assigned machines, including lubrication and cleaning. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Report any machine malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot machining problems and identify effective solutions. Work collaboratively with other machinists, programmers, and engineers to resolve issues.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Participate in safety meetings and training.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience 3-5 years as a General Machinist in a machine shop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, techniques, and properties of various metals and materials.
  • Proficient in setting up and operating manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and saws.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and/or milling machines with Fanuc or similar controls is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Excellent precision measurement and inspection skills using a variety of measuring instruments.
  • Ability to perform basic CNC program editing and optimization is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.
  • Completion of a relevant machinist apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs on occasion. We have Overhead Cranes.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and lubricants (with appropriate PPE provided).
